Will Boxing shine for India?

BTC News Sports Desk:The Tokyo Olympics 2020 contains the biggest ever Indian contingent with 119 athletes . Boxing is one of the main events for India. In the Rio Olympics 2016, only three boxers were able to qualify. But in this games, nine boxers – five men and four women – will begin their campaigns on July 24th. No medals were won by the Indian contingent in boxing in the last games at Rio.
India’s first ever boxing medal at the Olympics came in 2008 Beijing Games by none other than Vijender Singh. He claimed the bronze medal. In the 2012 London Olympic Games, Mary Kom striked Bronze.
But there is great expectation from the Indian Boxing squad. They can do well with plenty of experience on one hand and keeping in view their current form. World No.1 Amit Panghal too carries high hopes for his country. His current form is quite impressive. I’m December 2020, at the World Cup in Cologne, India had finished with nine medals, including three gold ones. It is only a matter of time in Tokyo Games when India will bag a medal or will the boxers come home empty like the last games.
