North 24 Parganas (India) correspondent: What an exciting warm-up game! India went past England in a magnificent way as the former won the game by 7 wickets. England went to bat first. With the help of Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone and Moeen Ali, they posted a formidable total of 188 runs.
India bowled well except the worrying performance of Bhuvi Kumar. He went for 54 runs in his 4 overs. His performance was also not well in IPL 2021. Bumrah and Shami bowled well as the duo took 4 wickets of England (Shami – 3 wickets and Bumrah – 1 wicket). They bowled with quite a discipline.
Indian never looked uncomfortable while chasing the total. KL Rahul and Mumbai Indians star opener, Ishan Kishan obliterated England bowling lineup. Rahul scored 51 off 30 balls and Ishan scored 70 odd runs before getting out with an injury. Surya kumar Yadav failed to grab the opportunity as he scored only 8 runs. Chris Woakes, Chris Jordan and Adil Rashid went for more than 10 runs an over.
India won the match but there were some questions regarding the team selection. Virat Kohli said in post match presentation said that Rahul and Ishan are the most viable option as openers due to the worrisome performance of ‘Hitman’ Rohit Sharma in IPL. Also Bhuvi will probably be out of Playing XI due to his long out of form performance.
India will face Australia in their final warmup game on 20th before their tournament opening game against Pakistan on 24th October.
