West Bengal CM to monitor health sector

kolkata (India) correspondent: West Bengal Chief minister, Mamata Banerji said on press conference, recently, that she will  monitor city’s hospital and gradually districts also.On Thursday,the CM announced this after visiting the hospital.
The Health Secretary and on some occasions,the Chief Secretary also attended the monitoring meeting,she said. The CM herself holds the health portfolio. CM Mamta Banerjee said, “Since Swasthya Bhawan,the headquarters of the health department,is a bit far from the city,I have decided to hold the meeting here. I have asked SSKM director, Monimoy Bandyopadhyay to arrange a conference room for seven to eight of us to hold the fortnightly meeting for three to four hours.”
Doctors and health professionals said her presence,exclusively for the health department before third wave of covid hits,will help bridge the infrastructural and administrative gaps.
Before leaving SSKM,she said there are five medical colleges in the city which require closer monitoring. She also said that Tata Medical Centre is establishing two more hospitals in close coordination with the State Govt.- one in Kolkata and another in Siliguri. These two hospitals will be great help to the cancer patients.
