North 24 Parganas (India) correspondent: There will be a very few matches in Christiano Ronaldo’s career, where he had not scored. The match with Ireland in World Cup Qualifiers could have been one of them but ended with a brace for the legend.
Portugal started the match pretty promptly when they earned a penalty in the 15th minute of the game. But to everyone’s surprise, Ronaldo failed to score. The 19 year old goalkeeper, Gavin Bahini who saved the penalty of the new Manchester United star. Ireland took the lead on Portugal in the first half. Little did they know they will end the night with a lose.
Ireland led the game up until 89th minute when Ronaldo scored his 110th goal from a header. Ireland really hoped that they will come home with a point but Ronaldo again changed the equation when he scored another goal in 90+6th minute.
Portugal turned the game at the last minute although Ronaldo was red carded as he took of his shirt for celebration. Also, on the match day, he was awarded the golden boot for most goals in EURO 2021. Ronaldo will miss the next match against Azerbaijan on Tuesday.
