Daren Sammy to join CWI’s Board of Directors

North 24 Parganas (Kolkata) correspondent: Daren Sammy will serve as an independent Non-Member Director in Cricket West Indies for two years after his appointment was confirmed last Thursday. The Board of Directors approved a second term for Trinidadian Attorney Debra Coryat-Patton and Jamaican Surgeon and University Administrator Dr. Akshai Mansingh.
“It is an honour to be appointed as a CWI Director; this is another great opportunity for me to give my best to West Indies cricket in a new way, off the field,” Sammy said in a CWI media release on Wednesday (June 23).
Sammy is currently in the UAE as a head coach for Peshwar Zalmi. The franchise has had a successful run under the former West Indies captain and will play the PSL 2021 final against Multan Sultans on June 24 in Abu Dhabi.Sammy is also the T20 cricket consultant and the brand ambassador for St Lucia Zouks for the 2021 edition of the CPL, having relinquished captaincy in May this year.
