Vegetables at the price of water, market full of bags for 100 taka!

Jaipurhat District Representative: All kinds of winter vegetables are being sold at the price of water in Bangla Hilli of Dinajpur bordering Jaipurhat. Currently, bags of vegetables are being bought for Tk 100; In the past, even after buying vegetables for 500 rupees, the bag was not filled. The common buyers who come to buy vegetables are happy with this. However, due to the sudden fall in prices, local farmers are in fear of loss.
Yesterday Monday (November 20) we visited the Bengali Heli vegetable market, every vegetable shop was decorated with various kinds of winter vegetables. Every shop is crowded with customers.
Talking to the buyer Akkas Ali about this in the vegetable market, he said that currently Hili market is full of vegetables. Alhamdulillah the price is also very low; That’s why I bought a lot of vegetables. A bag of vegetables was filled with 100 taka; In the past, even after buying vegetables for 500 rupees, the bag was not filled.
Another buyer Shafiq said, he bought brinjal at Tk 20 per kg, mulai at Tk 10, beans at Tk 40, cabbage at Tk 30, potal at Tk 25 and green chillies at Tk 80 per kg. If the price is like this, then it is a lot of benefit for us.
Bulbul Mia, a vegetable shopkeeper in the market, said that currently the price of vegetables is very low; Because of which the sales have increased a lot. Earlier where brinjal was sold for one maund; Now five to six maunds are being sold. In this way, every vegetable is being sold by heart.
Another vegetable shopkeeper Sohail said, earlier we used to bring these vegetables from different places including Bogra Mahasthan; Now these vegetables are coming from neighboring upazila Birampur, Panchbibi and surrounding areas. A lot of early winter vegetables have been planted this time; The price is also very low. That’s why we bring sacks of vegetables every day. Earlier it was very difficult to earn 500 rupees per day; Now the import has increased and the profit is increasing.
Talked with the farmer Abdul Salam in Heli market; He told Time News, We thought that the vegetables we planted would be enough profit this time; But it’s the same. The price at which I am selling it will not make much profit. Because because of the blockade, the wholesalers of vegetables from outside are coming less. That is why we have to sell the vegetables in the local market. Eggplant is being sold wholesale at 25 taka per kg, radish at 10 taka, sim at 30 taka – if the price goes down like this, how much taka will be gained?
In this regard, Hakimpur Upazila Agriculture Officer Moshammad Arjena Begum told the media workers that the government has already achieved great success in agriculture. At various times farmers are being advised in various ways including seed fertilizer incentives. We have already succeeded. Farmers are selling their produce in the market. These are going to different cities to meet the local demand. He also said that all kinds of cooperation to the farmers will continue in the future.
