India declares squad for T20 World Cup

North 24 Parganas (India) correspondent: India finally announced the contingent for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The World Cup is scheduled to be held in October-November in United Arab Emirates. There are few surprises in the squad.
There are a many obvious names like captain Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Rishab Pant, Bumrah. But to everyone’s surprise, Ravichandran Ashwin have been placed in the the 15-member squad. Ashwin, who last played in a T20 game against West Indies, back in 2017, played a formidable role to put Delhi Capitals into the IPL 2020 finals.
Shikhar Dhawan and Yuzvendra Chahal were sidelined from the squad even when they played a pivotal role in India-Sri Lanka series. Mystery spinner, Varun Chakravarthy has been included in the squad along with IPL stars Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan.
The squad is a spin heavy squad. BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly also appointed former Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the mentor for the tournament and who will be closely working with Head Coach, Ravi Shastri.
