Hockey medalist awarded with glory

BTC News Sports Desk: Vivek Sagar, a boy of 21, hails from Madhya Pradesh, put his name in gold lining, amongst those who have earned medal for India in Olympics. He is a young mid-fielder of India Men’s Hockey Team that won bronze medal in Tokyo Olympics.
He hails from Chandon – a sleepy village near Hoshangabad, a small town in Madhya Pradesh’s Itarsi district – the biggest prize had been the tears of joy that his parents shed once they heard the news. There are also reasons for the tears. His father is a school teacher and wanted his son to be an engineer, not a hockey player. But little did his father knew his son would achieve such a great feat.
Vivek Sagar was felicitated with accolades, cash rewards and a job with the Madhya Pradesh Police. Madhya Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan awarded those in Bhopal on Thursday.
